The Hellclimb is a bicycle race from Ashcroft to the Brake check at the top of the hill 18 km away. Travelling south on Hwy 97c you will climb 3000 ft in only 18 km. Being one of the steepest climbs you can do in that distance in British Columbia, it proves to be a great challenge. Added to the challenge is that temperatures in Ashcroft regularly get over 30°C. This year’s event will be a mass start hill climb race with the support of the Interior Grasslands Cycling Club.
All entrants will pay $25 for registration. Register soon and tell your friends. IGCC members receive a $5 discount; email email@example.com for that code. I can also be contacted by phone at 250-318-9434.
The Hellclimb starts at the Railroad tracks by the Associated Electrical parking lot. Address is 101 1st street. Please park at the BBQ/awards location.
Start time is 10:00 AM. Please allow ½ hr to check in at race start.
Free BBQ lunch with non alcoholic beverages and a social will be held at the Heritage Place Park. Lunch will start at 1:00. Address is 650 Railway Ave. The lunch will be free for all entrants. Spectators and family members are welcome to join in for a burger and refreshment for only $5 each, paid at the BBQ.
People come to the Hellclimb each for for one of 3 reasons …
1 – to race against some of the best climbers in the interior for a shot at some gas money.
2 – to make the accomplishment of climbing that dang ol hill.
3 – to enjoy sitting around with a nice burger and talk with new and old friends.
Cash prizes will be given to top 3 of the female and male racers.
A shuttle/sag wagon is available to bring clothes, etc. to the top.
