We look forward to seeing everyone on April 6th for our Warm Up Time Trial event!
The season calendar for 2017 has been posted! The first event we are holding is on April 6, in Westsyde. This will not be an “official” race but more of a social/warm up event for the season to come. This is also a good event to base your training zones off of, as for most riders this is a 20 – 35 minute event. See you all there!

The 2017 annual general meeting is scheduled for January 9, 2017 at 7:00 pm, Tournament Capital Centre, room “D”. This will be an important meeting as several club director positions need to be filled for the new year. The agenda will be posted prior to the meeting. Resolutions, topics for discussion or ideas can be sent to Matt Treger prior to the meeting.
Several award winners for 2016, who could not attend our award banquet, will have the opportunity to claim their trophies and medals at the AGM. They are as follows: Mike Renshaw, Trevor Laupland, Melissa Lowenberg, Brenda Laupland and Sarah Spence.
Despite stormy and windy elements, nine club members, including two juniors started the the first criterium race of the year. John Tilley set the race format of 30 minutes plus 5 finishing laps of high speed madness. An unconventional 3 neutral laps were used to start to allow riders an opportunity to warm-up and become familiar with the course. An early rain made for cautious cornering.
Russ Hayes Accent Inns rider Devon Moonie, broke away on lap 4 and put the hammer down, chased by Ray Nyuli, Josh Ogivie, Wayne Little, Sophie Ogilvie, Dana Manhard, and Roy Langdon. Pushing the speed, Devon managed to stay clear, dwindling the chase group down to three; Josh, Dana, Wayne, followed by Ray, 20 seconds behind. Finishing order; Devon, Josh, Dana, Wayne, Ray, Sophie, Roy, Matt Treger, and super veteran Mike Stewart-Smith. A great race and effort by all.
Under clear but typically windy conditions, eight members came out to race in the first event of the club’s 2016 calendar. The 16 km time trial was won by Josh Ogilvie with a time of 26:39, followed Mike Renshaw (27:33) and Peter Nickerson (28:10). Mike Moonie and Charlie Bruce helped with timing and Robert Forsyth looked after marshaling at the turn around point. We thank everyone who came out as a volunteer and participant.
The next event will be a training ridge on Wednesday, March 30th on Dallas Drive; the next race will be the following Thursday, April 7th.
On Thursday, January 21, the AGM was held. Eighteen members were in attendance.
Your 2016 Board of Directors are: Greg Ogilvie, Greg Ziebart, John Tilley, Matt Treger, Mike Moonie, Robert Forsyth, Wayne Little.
The current Board thanks the outgoing Board members: Ray Nyuli, Peter Bartel, Devon Moonie and Darin St. Jacques, as well as Gary Hunt.
